Tachi blade "Dragon" Horimono

Nihonto Japanese long sword Katana Sumitomo Koshirae

 

Blade recently polishing, a great Togishi work. Now in real very good condition.

Type Tachi blade measures:

Cutting Edge Length: 77,8 cm (30,63")

Nagasa: 76,6 (30,15")

Sori: 1,6 cm (0.63")

Koshirae fitting: 108 cm (42,52")

 

Horimono:

High grade Koshirae. Complete recently restoring (a Koshiraeshi master work):

Tsuka: Honoki wood.

Tsukamaki (Ito labour) Shonai Zukamaki (Braided of High Social Status Degree)
Ito: Genuine Natural Japanese Silk
Same: Ray Skin
Fuchi and Kashira: Bronze and solid Silver.

The Kashira has inlay (solid Silver handwork) a Kamon as personal variant of the family Sumitomo, to one of whose members it must have belonged.

Menuki couple: Shakudo. Gold and copper alloy. Antique work depicting a dragon

 

Tsuba:

Forged iron and Silver alloy (on the Hole caps), signed Tsuba showing a form of chrysanthemum. Estimated Age: Edo Period

 

Saya: Honoki wood.

Mushikui Nuri, Kawai Nuri and Negoro Nuri (Gold sheets with rice and four Urushi colors), Urushi lacquered.
Koiguchi and Kojiri: Antique genuine Ivory
Kurigata: Japanese Deer Horn
Sageo: Silk braided two colors
